Darrell, a highly respected industry veteran, recently retired after a distinguished career at Denver Mattress Co., where he played a pivotal role in expanding the company to over 100 locations. His extensive knowledge and strategic acumen are poised to drive Snooze Mattress Co.'s continued growth and success.
Matt Smith, CEO and founder of Snooze Mattress Co., is enthusiastic about Darrell and describes him as a disruptor in the industry — someone who does things the right way and for the right reasons.
“This is one of THE BEST guys in the world and one of the best sales trainers in the world,” Matt said. “His super power is helping people find their why, making stores successful and changing their lives. His ability to manage people from all backgrounds is the best in the business. He is all about the customer’s needs, not just selling a bed. He’s data-driven, full of love and hugs — he understands people, plus he is on the same mission as Snooze — to make the world a better place through sleep.”
Matt added he does more than just fit in with the Snooze Crew and culture.

During his tenure at Denver Mattress Co., Darrell achieved several milestones, including scaling the store from 12 to more than 100 locations. In the late 90s, Darrell was the boss of the future founder of Snooze, Matt when he was just 19, the future President of Snooze, George Winn and the future Sales and Marketing President of Snooze, Eric Thompson.
His outstanding track record in hiring and coaching in the industry positions him as a valuable asset to Snooze Mattress Co. and the broader franchise industry.
Darrell expressed his enthusiasm about joining Snooze Mattress Co., stating, " It’s going to be a fun challenge with a lot of key, good people. Everyone I’ve met so far has been great and I’m excited to start.”
