Huntsville, AL — Snooze Mattress Company, renowned for its Dream Mapping technology, is
proud to announce its expansion into Alabama with three stores in Huntsville and Birmingham.
This is the company's first mark into the state, signaling a step in the mission of Snooze to
improve the lives of 20 million people through deep, restorative sleep.
The new stores are a collaboration with entrepreneurs Jon Turman, Patrick Gray, Bryan Bell,
and Brian Kelly, of Birmingham, AL. This is the first time the four will go into business together.
Brad Taylor, Vice President of Franchise Development, said in order to get awarded a Snooze
territory, you must have grit, be a good human and be coachable, they have all three.
“We are thrilled to and honored to be planting the Snooze flag in Alabama and to have this
partnership,” Taylor said. “All have been in business, entrepreneurship, and understand the
game, it's a marathon not a sprint. Betting on themselves is paramount – this group gets it.”
The mission and disruption of Snooze excites the group and was ultimately the reason they
decided to open three in the state.
“Where we are at, there’s not a lot of competition doing this mattress game and the sleep
science game well,” Kelly said. “We have plenty of mattress stores in the Birmingham and
Huntsville area, but very, very, few are great places to shop, great retail experiences, let alone
address any of the sleep science issues. We are excited to bring that to the state of Alabama —
good sleep is coming.”
Even though the entrepreneurs have no specific mattress sales experience, the impact of going
in a business that can change lives excites them.
“I don’t know anything about the mattresses, other than me, my wife and three kids sleep on a
mattress and we have a bunch of them in every room in the house,” Turman said. “It seems like
a business where everyone needs the product. And Snooze is going about it a different way.”
Turman said he is amazed at how big the sleep industry is and the positive disruption Snooze
brings.
“The sleep industry is a multi-million, billion dollar industry and sleep medication is three times
what mattresses are. That blew my mind,” he said. “I think we are looking at it all wrong. We can
flip that on its head in the next 10 years. This is coming from someone who is taking Melatonin
and still sleeps badly. I wake up every morning wanting to get Dream Mapped and see how bad
my mattress is.”
Gray seconded that and said he has struggled with sleep his entire life.
“I have a routine I go through every night,” Gray said. “The temperature has to be just right -
there’s a perfect routine and ever since I got my sleep in order it changed my life.”
The benefits of sleep are underestimated and real, he continued.
“The American public just isn’t aware of the real significance of sleep deprivation and what it can
do for your heart and brain - everything,” he said. “I feel very strongly about the mission to get
America to sleep how it should.”
He feels so strongly he challenged his partners to a contest.
“I’m going to be the number one salesman in the Southeast,” Gray joked.
“He’ll be in the top four,” Turman chuckled.
The stores will feature Snooze Mattress Co.’s exclusive Dream Mapping technology and
innovative Snoozetopia products.
“We have a whole new shopping experience that’s fun, easy, informative and educational, to
help you get better sleep because it’s one of the most important things in your life,” Bell said.
“You spend one-third of your life sleeping and it affects everything else you do. I’m really
attracted to that and to get it kicked off in our market.”
The first two stores to open will be located in Huntsville, about one to two hours from
Birmingham. The third will open in Birmingham. The opening date and the address of the new
locations will be later announced.
“We found some incredible humans and there is a need in the area, it’s a booming area,” Matt
Smith, CEO and Founder of Snooze Mattress Co. said. “The partners that are getting involved
have been in business for a long period of time and have been in the community for a long time
and they are excited about our mission to help 20 million people sleep better.”
These territories are one of 12 that have been awarded so far this year. In 2024, 65 locations
are slated to open across the country.
